Toad
Canon 1D MK 1V, Sigma 300-800mm @ 687mm with three extension tubes on, f9, iso 400, tripod, cable release and MLU.

Not your normal kind of macro lens and I brought these tubes earlier in the year to try for a different approach to these kind of shots, and I was very pleased how well they have worked out, as this shot would not have been possible with a normal macro lens as I was some four meters up the bank.

Thanks for looking.

Looks like some toes are are missing from its claw. That's some macro lens you are using, with excellent effect.

Smart image .On a 300 800 you may not get one in the insert chamber but a polariser to cut the surface reflections ?

Looks good, excellent technique given the size of the subject.

I love this he looks like he is just taking it easy and leaning on that leaf

Hi Guy, as usual a really strong comp, and highlights the 'Golden rule'.

Interesting you use a long lens for this, I was having the same conversation with DC an another friend about doing this with other bit. Really like the leaf curving round slightly on the rhs. :toast:

Good stuff.
I did a similar thing on a Comma with a 500mm the other day.

Hi Guy - all said above. Another cracking image.

You mention you were 4 meters up the bank - with that amount of glass + extenders, I reckon the end of the lens was still only 2ft away from Mr Toad lol :jump:

It has worked well considering the size of lens etc. It must be one of the unfortunate few that haven't found a mate  :toast:

I shoot quite a few shots with long lens and extension tubes. Really nice image Guy.
