For those of you new to the forum and those who simply need a refresher, please take a look at the following guidelines and instructions before posting in the RMNP forum. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your moderators.

*** General Posting Guidelines ***
Before posting a new topic or responding to an existing topic, please read and understand the NPN Posting Guidelines.

In particular, please note that we cannot allow ANY commercial posts. This is includes ads or links to photography workshops and items for sale for profit. You may post your workshop listing in the Workshop Forum, or place a link in your profile signature. Placing a personal for-sale item is not allowed. Please post all ads for personal items in the NPN Camera Equipment Classifieds forum.

Please understand the forum is open to all discussion within the NPN guidelines including “flaming” or negative responses. However, before posting any negative comment, please consider wording your language so it provides “constructive criticism”, or privately contacting the person. It is not the moderator’s job to censor this forum, unnecessarily delete threads, or resolve personal issues.

Please do your job to keep your posts on-topic and maintain our reputation as the best nature photography forum on the net.

*** How to post an Active Link ***
This Text Style Menu link explains in detail how to post an active link and how to format text.

This helpful link is also available as a pop-up while you are posting new topics and when replying to an existing thread. Just look for the Text Style Menu link on the page. (It is also at the bottom of this page.)

*** How to post Images *** (Curtsey of Rick Dunn)
Anyone can post an image in a new post. At the bottom of the page for a new topic, there should be two options, one of which will be grayed out if you are not an NPN member.

Embed via Upload: Option #1 – available for paid NPN members - is to include a .jpg with your new post by clicking on the Browse button near the bottom of the page and selecting an image from your hard drive.

Embed via Link: Option #2 – available to anyone - is to point/link to an image that is hosted somewhere else; this works only for new topics, not for replies. Note – you need to link to the .jpg, not the .html page that contains the .jpg. There is a field for the URL at the bottom of the new post page. That should result in the image being shown in your post. Only one image can be included in the post.

Displaying Multiple Images: Paid NPN Members can include/embed images in replies to their own or others’ posts. One advantage of this is that if you want to post several images at once, you can put the first image in the initial post and add more by replying to your own post, as Brian and Adam did in this thread.

Linking to Images (without displaying the image): Anyone can post an active link (versus just showing the URL) to an image hosted elsewhere by following the Text Style Menu instructions; a link to these instructions is always located on the posting page – below the smilies for replies, or to the left of the title field on new posts. If you just type/paste the URL into your message, it will appear like this: http://www.rickdunn.net/images/new/new_Aug_06/CO_P7282567.jpg and no one can click on it to go to the image; they’ll have to copy and paste into their browser. But if you follow the Text Style Menu instructions on how to use the url tags, you can have the link be active as shown here: http://www.rickdunn.net/images/new/new_Aug_06/CO_P7282567.jpg.
