American Kestrel
Finally got a shot of one of these birds at Crown Hill Park. This is a good spot to see these birds and also red-tailed hawks. Not sure if the Swainson's hawks still nest there.

Canon 20D
500mm lens
Gitzo tripod

WOW. Nice work. It is wonderfully framed. What shutter speed was this taken at? I assume the lens was a canon 500mm IS lens with L glass?

Beauty! These are one of my favorite raptors.

I don't know a raven from a crow, but I'm always impressed with images of birds in flight.

Did you have to do any post processing of the background or is that just due to the Fstop?

Thanks

Great shot. As common as these birds are thery are difficult to photograph. I know I have been trying for years and have nothing even close to this.

Very cool! I agree, birds in flight are awesome photographs and these little buggers are very colorful and photogenic. Were you shooting from a blind? They're common here too but I can't get anywhere close to them.
Excellent photo!

Well done! Hand held or on a tripod?

Best kestrel shot I've ever seen - these guys are incredibly hard to shoot.

Congrats!
