Lesser Adjutant Stork (+ insurance question!)
Hi all,

Only my second post on here, so go easy on me! Still finding my way around. Hopefully it is okay to post overseas photos? I am a UK (Scotland) photographer and would like to be part of this community.

The attached shows a Lesser Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos javanicus) which I was lucky enough to catch at sunset in Chitwan National Park, Nepal. The species is IUCN red-listed as 'vulnerable' and sadly not, in normal light, the most attractive of birds! I'm hopeful this usefully shows it in a (literally) different light.

It was shot in RAW and has been meddled with slightly in PS to get the colours etc as presented. I'd welcome feedback generally, and also thoughts on the colour and light gradient.

Also - different question - a 500mm f4 arrives in the next few days (very exciting!). It takes my kit over what my house insurance will cover. I'm amateur at present, but hoping to sell a few images on e.g. Alamy - can anyone recommend an insurer?

Many thanks

Ben

Welcome to NPN.

Towergate do a scheme - I got an amateur quote at about £200, and they do semi or pro schemes as well.

Like the shot BTW - well handled bearing in mind the light. Could the bird outline take any more sharpening ? That might be my work screen though.

One nit - Not sure about your copyright mark - at that size I find it distracting....

Thanks Graham,

I have come across Towergate Camerasure mentioned in a few places (I have discovered how to seach earlier threads). Glover and Howe also seems to come up quite a few times.

Here is another version, with smaller semi-transparent copyright and 'saved for web' in PS - any better?

G&H is certainly another option.

Prices do seem expensive, but with a 500 costing as much as a small car these days + all your other kit, good value imo.

Re the image - that's better and works for me :wavey:
