Razorbill

Razorbill, photographed on the east coast at sunrise. I've tried to hold onto the whites the best I could, but I suppose it's a trade off with a black and white subject.

Processed in DPP / CS2 ( Full frame, just cropped a little off the left and top to aid the composition )

7D, 300F4IS, Handheld
1/400th @ F4 -2/3rds iso800

All comments most welcome and thanks for looking.

It is, as you say, a trade off. I find with razorbills, especially, it is also all too easy to lose the eye. I think you have got the compromise about right here.

Yes - a difficult subject handled well.

Balanced things out nicely Andy. Did you have someone holding your feet to get this :toast:

Hi Andy, some do HDR in this situation, fire off a bracket and assemble in PS, requires tripod though. The eye is hidden on this cheapo work monitor.
