Danny,

You mean like this?
This was 2003, my first and only visit during the bloom.

I was thinking about heading out there on Sunday, but abstained for that very reason. I don't want to be shooting with 200 of my new best friends.

Nice Lon!!

Gentlemen,

The surrounding area of dirt roads and extensive coverage allowed me to find areas of complete solitude yesterday. You just have to go on driveabout ( California version of Aussie walkabout ) . There were some cars in this area but widely scattered. You get some idea of the coverage. Cut out the sky due to haze and power poles. Yeah Ave I was a complete "Zoo" but my wife and I had a great time finding places where the maddening crowds weren't. Ave D wasn't as bad and this image was taken from a dirt track leading off a high power line road.

Photo title Wizard of Ahhs . Danny's probably right about the reserve itself I was very far away from it on purpose.

I went there on Saturday, but I might as well have gone to Disneyland instead. I agree with Paul, there are plenty of dirt roads to explore and get away from the crowds.
