Did not know where else to post this. Its not nature, but is in California. A gargoyle on the side of the San Jose Museum of Art.

Just wondering what you think? Heavy color variations. Digital Capture.

Youssef,

Alright, someone's got to bite... :-) I like the heavy color processing, which gives this a distinct, metallic look to it. Also like the symmetry.

Here's my honest opinion though. You did a great job capturing and presenting - someone else's art. This notion has stuck with me for years and I probably picked it up from some camera club judge. But in terms of your own photographic creativity, vision and artistry, at least IMHO, comes from the architect and builder of this structure. Your interpretation comes in with the processing and "color variation," but not with the original design or vision.

So in the end, I view this as more documentary than photographic art. Hope that makes sense.

I like the metallic look here, Youssef. Nice job on the processing and a neat find. I don't see a lot of gargoyles around here.

Youseff, I like the general idea, but for some reason, the letters SJL really disrupt the composition for me. The gargoyle and the stonework make me think of a middle ages church in Europe, then the lettering jolts me back to very modern times. The colors work in a very Tony Kuyper way. They don't resemble reality, but they work in their own way.

I was just palying around and thought I would share. Thanks for the feedback. Its definitely not my normal cup of tea. I found this gargoyle while leading a couple on a private workshop through downtown San Jose - so we were looking for interesting compositions in a city environment. I liked the symmetry but the dull tones did not appeal to me so I started to play around. The colors seemd allowable since it was not a nature scene.

Anything is allowable, nature scene or not. It all depends on your tastes.
