Cinnamon Teal (Anas cyanoptera), Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge, Ridgefield, Washington, USA
Canon 7D, 300mm f/2.8L, 1/500 sec @ f/4.5, ISO 320, aesthetic cropping.

Sunday morning was a really nice, serene, and beautiful morning at Ridgefield--something I desperately needed. And sunny too!

I chose to keep some of the environment in the shot here. I like how the Teal is looking away. In fact he's keeping careful watch over his mate.

Comments and critiques appreciated.

Very cool, David. I love the "bird in environment" aspect of this. Very nice selective focus, too, in which I notice not only the teal but also the water drops and the feeling of depth. Ridgefield sounds wonderful; really must journey down that way for a look.

VERY NICE David, The Cinnamon teal are indeed back, drakes looking after their gals and this is a wonderful capture. I like your DOF and one can almost feel the cool damp grass, seeing the dew drops.

Very cool. I love the "beauty" bird shots, but this one is special too for the environment and "action" interest. Nice!
