Pendulous Sedge Dropping Pollen
1 d mk3

I like this a lot Dale and you executed it very well indeed. Excellent use of the lighting and the detail is awesome.

Do you have any showing more of the stem? I just wondered if it would offer a little more to the story..

Kind regards,

Brett :toast:

Classic shot Dale, although I'd second Brett's comment - it would be nice to see a little more of the stem, with the pollen waterfall just a little to the left, off-centre.

Could you please tell me what if I added more of the stem to the picture how would improve the picture?

Nicely lit, I feel that everything is 'floating' from the side with no real anchor for the plant. For me it needs the stem to be in the frame....

But then you would'nt see the grains of pollen, It would just be a distant blur, Its a detailed shot of it dropping its pollen.

The falling pollen is caught very well but I'd echo the above comments regarding the stem.

Dale it just needs more of the stem to be in the frame, perhaps just a tad smaller and offset the falling pollen more to the left hand side of the frame, at the moment there are three unattached parts of the plant which are just not sitting comfortably in the frame. I do believe that you would be able to see the pollen grains with the mag reduced some.

Please remember this is a critique forum and that we all have different views on things, it would be boring if we all liked the same things.

Not Saying that, but you didnt explain why you wanted more stem, now I know your reason thats fine. :wavey:

Hi Dale, no probs... was flying through during a quick break whilst waiting for more snails to turn up, then found a touch more time to explain more fully.

Hi Dale, perhaps I should have explained some more, but like I said it ads more to the story and I think Phil has explained my thought process too.. Kind regards,

Hi Dale,

Great shot really well executed! I agree with the stem comments, but like you say the detail of the pollen would decrease, especially at this size.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Hi Dale
How did you time the pollen drop.?
Elastic band like me or something more techy ? Did you just flick the stem ?
Good stuff.

My first thought when I saw the image was 'Wow - I like that'- it's different, and a well thought out and executed image.

Having read the comments on the thread, I can see the various points and suggestions re the stems, and agree that they would probably improve what is already a striking picture. Whether balancing and showing the stems would detract from the image would only be evident in a larger format than shown here I guess.

Whatever - nice one Dale :wavey:

Hi John
Nothing techy here just a simple flick of the stem.
