The past week we have seen quite a few really good photos in the Fauna Gallery and more than I can mention here deserve to be seen. The following three images get an honorable mention:
- Andrius Pašukonis had two creative Ibex images this week, the first one Ibex in Caucas sunset caught my eye the most. This is a striking dark Ibex silhouette with an awe-inspiring backdrop of the russian Caucas mountains.
- Ken Archer managed to combine a perfect rainbow with wildlife, a combination many wildlife photographers are after. These opportunities are rare however and Ken made the most of it in his Elk and Rainbow.
- The very small mammals are kind of underrepresented in the Fauna Gallery and therefore I was very pleased with Graham Brown's excellent image Bank Vole of a Vole surrounded by bright green moss.
There was one image this week however, that clearly stood out above the rest and is a must see for all. An image that is true Wildlife Art; Art of the kind most (wildlife) photographers aspire to create. Marsel van Oosten's River Siesta combines nicely blurred, but textured, flowing water of a river, like we often see in the ESS Gallery, with one of the world's most fascinating mammals, the Grizzly Bear. This well planned and perfectly executed creation once again shows Marcel's artistic eye, creativity and photography skills.
