See what you mean about the whites, they aren't blown in the master so must a made some slight error in the resize and adjust as I don't take that much care when I 'prepare' of the web; a couple of actions do it all.
As a matter of interest, did you {or do you often} have 'pano' in mind, while you are out and about, or does the thought occur after .
I took a number of grey wag shots last week {unfortunately all very similar side-on shots} and was about to bin the lot when 'pano' sprung to mind in the nick of time. Although all are bog standard profile shots, cropping to pano has saved the day {to a certain extent}, although had the thought entered my head earlier, i suspect i could have done better.
Anyway, its a fine 'very british feel' woodland/stream dipper composition

Hi Tom
like the Pano effect and showing off the Dipper's habitat.

I spent a good few years with a 6*17 camera treking around the wilder places of Ireland, Wales and Scotland hence I 'see' in pano as frequently as I see in 3:2. I also have a few tricks that help me do so.
Althought when digital came out I stopped using the 617 as much. It was only when I bought the 1Ds2 that I finally sold the Technorama and moved completely to digital. At about 5000 original pixels, and a less than X2 enlargement, I could finally get 30in print with reasonable detail and clarity.
That said I still regret selling the 617 on a sentimentality basis, but I needed the money to finance the 1Ds2 and I wouldn't have carried both anyway.
18M Digital has allowed me so much more freedom with little downside unless you want greater than 30" prints, which isn't required that often. Even if it is required there are still some tricks to acheive this, like stitching two images together, of better still three, of better still with a TS-E lens.
I will probably buy a 617 in many years to come for nostalgia.

Hi Tom
I like the composition, pano format works well here. Maybe a bit more space above the bird would improve it for me, and next time don't blow the whites

I like this one - pano works really well and I like the traces of snow. White on the Dipper a bit hot, but still a great image!

Works for me too. Maybe a bit more room at the top. White looks blown. Fine image all the same.
