Harvest Mouse on hazel catkins.(c) + repost.
This is a scan of a slide I took a few years ago in a vivarium in my bedroom.
OM2 camera,90mm Tamron lens,Kodachrome film and 2 flashguns,1/60 f11?

Very nice, there may be a slight colour cast, not easy to get righ from a scan (we used to have huge problems with different film types etc). Comp wise I think (personal taste and all that) a little from the left, still keeping the tail in the frame and a little added to the right, just to give your superb subject room to look down into.

Like it.

Comp works well in the second and on my monitor Phil is right about the colour cast .The BG is suffering with noise and what appears to be post process works .A revisit to the scan for this really nice study may be worthwhile .

Hey Phil, mark i feel has hit the nail on the head, with a little help from PH. Think the re work is probably more in line with the original and the slight crop has helped too.

Who said film was dead? :toast:

What a great little subject to photograph. I think it's great that you have decide to bring it up to date by digitising and I also think the advice given will help a lot. The subject and comp works very well in the reposting and I do think it's worth tweaking some more with the scanner to get it just as you want it.

Kind regards,

Brett

An image of such a sweet subject that have yet to achieve. The second crop works very well for me, and I like Marks version minus the green cast. Nice one.

Photogenic license John.
Anyway this hazel tree was growing in a hedgerow alongside a barley field and the branch was weighted down with catkins,so that it was only about 3 feet off the ground. And while it was waiting for the crop to grow, the mouse went exploring...and it quite liked the view.
And that's the true story of how dormice came to exist. Evolution!

Hello Phil, scans these days can look a little difficult, I bet the original slide is excellent. :toast:
