Chaffinch
Woodland pool this afternoon.
Untouched apart from cropping(about 50% of total) and re sizing.
Usual set up. Got a nice series on Willow warblers, Chiffs and Blackcaps too.

the humble Chaffinch is a handsome bird and you have caught it well

Great capture as usual, John. It looks like it is really appreciating the sun and the cooling water.

He is a pretty boy John! Love the splayed tail feathers and water droplets, and the 'over the shoulder' pose. Very nice indeed with a lovely catchlight to boot.Nice one.

Comp, Light, Pose, Detail & Environment... All there and so it ticks all the boxes for me John, nice work.
The POV as worked really well here giving good detail through out the bird.

Have to agree with everyone else re the fanned tail feathers, they look great. I like the head turn too and the comp, it's another fine pool shot John.

Hi John,
Underrated aren't they, beautiful shot really showing the males plumage off. Love the green rump, which many people don't realise Chaffinches have. Glad the pools are paying off for you once again.
Cheers,
Lewis.

I wonder how many photographers have been inspired to build a pool or contemplated building a pool, after viewing your images over the years.
Another fine shot,John.

The only problem is the work involved. I,ve got 5 hides on pools at the moment and 4 of those have to be topped up with 15 gallons every two days in this weather. Takes a bit of doing.
