I like the angles and the great mood and sense of mystery of the fog. Very nicely done, Steve.

This is enchanting, Steve. Except for the lack of elevation the mountain
looks like something that one might see in the Himalayas. You have
some exceedingly strong layered formations here, owing to their triangular
shape. This is a very well though out composition.

very dramatic. looks like Morrison? the misty skies make the peak look even more imposing and i like the way the foreground slopes frame the scene.

Cool shot Steve! I have shoot Longs Peak while living in CO. And I must say its nice to know we have a Diamond here in CA as well.
One of the cool thing with Longs for those who do the hike to the base is that there is a reflective pool at the base of the Diamond which some killer shots have been taken from in the Summer months.
Longs Peak in CO is infamous for more than just photography. There have been more deaths along the climb to the top than any other 14er in CO. This is partly due to the close proximity to Denver and also some very dangerous sections.

Anish, Yes it's Morrison.
Derek, I have had the chance to make it up it there once. Most traffic I have ever come across at a 2am start. I did get lonely when I took the turn at the fork to head on over to Chasm Lake. I lost the trail right before you make it up there so I had to scramble up some of the frosty run off. I did make it up just in time for sunrise. Not a cloud in the sky but I was running for cover only minutes later when the lightning and hail hit. A very nice rugged place that was even on the way out in bland light. I really like that you can see it while your at a rockies game from the stands.
If anyone wanted to stand in a different spot at Convict Lake they could photograph the east face of this mountain rising above the lake which is the right side of it shown here. . hmmm

Sweet golden light at Chasm Lake Steve! I love all the jagged angles and rock striations.
Funny that you've been up there as well. I didn't think Californians ventured that far east very often.

Forget the Diamond! Even better, Morrison is recognized as THE EIGER of the High Sierra!
