I'm taking an extended weekend at the end of April and heading up to the Sequim/Port Angeles area to do some exploring. I'm thinking I'll hit Salt Creek Park and the Marine Life Sanctuary and maybe Rialto Beach on the way back. I'll be shooting landscapes and maybe some macros. I hear the tide pools can be spectacular. Most of my images so far have been forest scenes, waterfalls, streams, etc. under cloudy conditions; a weekend of spreading my wings so to speak. Any tips for shooting beaches and tide pools? Any other locations I might consider in the general area? Thanks for any info.

Yeah, thanks Jim. According to The Photographer's Ephemeris the sun will be setting straight down the trhroat of the Strait of Juan de Fuca if you're set up at Salt Creek Park the weekend you're going to be in the area. Unfortunately, I can't be there that weekend, but the weather is supposed to be partly cloudy/partly sunny next weekend so I might get lucky.

Bruce, you'll have a great trip up there this time of year. Wish I could play hooky and get up there myself.

For some more possibilities, check out the Sol Duc Forest and if you have time, Second Beach.

Here's a link to an old itinerary we did: Olympic National Park.

Good luck and feel free to post some images to the forum.
