Sand Martins
This has to be one of my all time favourites so far. First session in the martin hide which has been up since last year. When you think that these little guys avoided the Sparrow hawk last year and travelled all those miles to end up backon the same sand bank in front ogf the same hide a year later , it is quite moving. Well it is to me anyway. At one time 7 birds went into one hole !
Light not too good . Taken at 7 0’clock this evening.
D200
Sigma 50-500mm
Iso 640. 80th sec @ f8
About 50% of whole image.
One of dozens of shots with three birds in frame, but about the only one with the heads right _ Bit like a wedding !!
Cheers
JR
PS Don't forget the sand is red !

Great Shot John is there a slight colour problem or it might be my end they look greeny grey, are they not brown?
All said and done Nature is wonderful thing.

Nice work John and I can see what Dale means but the leaf that is showing is about right so I can assume the rest of the exposure is right too, however a tweak in the levels might help it 'pop'.. I would be tempted to just clone or crop out the 'black' area top LHS as it detracts a little and doesn't add anything. I like the rest of the comp as is.

Ps. Looking forward to the Sparrow hawks feeding time..!

Good to see them back - I'm sure the sparrowhawk is just as pleased! I like the head angles on this one which I am sure was not easy to get. Looking forward to more.

Thanks all.
I played around with levels etc for about an hour and like I said before I usually end up messing things up so I left it as it is.There are about 10 different versions and everyone has their own tastes - and monitors
If you do a google you will see that they are this colour generally
especially with no sun on them. the young are browner.
