Surprising how confiding these birds can be. No hide, just sitting very still (for a very long time!) they take no notice and go about their business, on a number of occasions coming closer than I could focus.

Interesting take on a bird doing "what they do " !

Tony, I've always had to catch them on the move, rarely standing still for any length of time, so I think you were lucky here.

Hi Cliff,
Lucky with this image and a couple of hundred others captured over half a dozen visits. Wish I was as lucky with the lottery......

Another 'in the environment shot' which is really up my street, I like this a lot Tony, Nice work.. I particularly like the fact that it's going about it's business despite your presence.

Excellent setting and I like the intense stare. I've found similar behaviour with these here - they do seem happy to just get on with it and largely ignore me after a while (my wife does the same ... . ).

Very nice Tony, well caught.
I might shave some off the bottom and LHS to reduce the amount of OOF water bottom left of the image.
Nice light cought on this bird Tony,
interesting technique you use here, no hide,
just sitting still ? how long

Bertl, I have visited the site on at least 6 occasions and the longest session I had there was for 5 hours. the birds turn up every 45 minutes or so and spend 10 minutes feeding before moving on.
