Otter mother and cubs panoramic
from Mull, followed this otter family for a couple days on Mull, on this occasion they were playing and squabbling on this small rock island before going to sleep. Unfortunately most of the action and was behind the rock, anyway i lay in position while they slept for quite some time hoping when they woke up they might play on top of the rock so i could get shots. While i was waiting prostrate on the seaweed an immature sea eagle few just above my head and landed in a tree not far off and set to watching the otters.

I agonised about whether or not to leave the otters and try and approach it to get a shot, eventually i decided i would give it a try, within 5 seconds of getting up the eagle flew off 500m to a new tree and i took the hint and was able to sneak back to the sleeping otters without waking them.

Eventually some 15 mins later they did wake and continued playing behing the rock:rolleyes:, lots of limb and head shots but not very good at this size, did get one or two relaxed family portraits though at the end

i quite liked the central comp here, some may not, i do have plenty of others compositions and poses though

Both crop and the central positioning within the frame work well here.

A lovely family shot Jack but I'm not so sure about the cropping. The pano does work but not as narrow as this. I think it needs a little more height and a crop from the LHS to just past the clump of dark seaweed. This would leave the otters a bit less central and stop the eye straying to the seaweed.
