Male Emperor Moth
Taken today in the Peak. Strangely the males are meant to be active during the day while the females generally fly at dusk. This male sat in the same position for at least a couple of hours.

Superb Maggie. Those 'eyes' are really scary. I suppose it is a male trait sitting in the same position for hours waiting for the females to appear.

Firstly Maggie, congrats on HH at 1/100 f/11.

Colour & detail is extremely good, although I do find the subject just 'slightly' to big within the frame. I might also tone down the strands of 'grass?' to the lhs and by the Moth, as they tend to distract.

Super moth and those antennae really shine out at you.If the moth was there a couple of hours I might have been tempted to try and remove those bright grass stems without disturbing him.Of course you may have tried and off he flew,I don't know!

This is a real beauty. The background helps sets some context for me Maggie :toast:

What a fantastic find Maggie, I'd would love to see one of these. I might lift the levels a touch, just to bring out some of those gorgeous colours on the wings.

Lovely image of this beautiful creature. I agree with Andy though about lifting the levels a bit to bring out the colours of the wings.

Hello Maggie.

Excellent find and with a little more processing on the moth it could be made even stronger.
