Very nice indeed Baz,Shame there wasnt abit more light to allow a faster shutter speed to freeze the foot but one of the best bittern images i have seen for a while

Hi Barrie
Would have preferred it without the two OOF horizontal reeds but still a very nice shot of a Bittern in winter habitat!
I like this shot, it shows the Bittern perfectly in it's habitat. The foreground reed stems are a minor distraction but also help to set the scene, and the birds head is not obstructed so it works well overall.
Very good shot Barrie, I like it a lot - very nice bittern in habitat pic. This is how I typically see them. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen them completely in the clear in the past 10 years of visits to Leighton Moss.
The head looks nice and sharp. Some of the reed stems are bit distracting especially some very bright ones above the head. I think if these were darkened a bit they would blend into the background and be hardly distracting.

Great shot of this very elusive bird illustrating just how elusive they are.
This image really demonstrates just how well camouflaged these birds are, I like it.
Best wishes
