Nikon D3, 200-400/f4, WH2 + Gitzo 3530LSV.
Aperture Priority exposure mode f8, 1/320, iso 400.
RAW image processed in Capture One; sharpened in Photoshop CS4, full frame.
I’ve had the D3 and the 200-400 since December 2008 and consider them to be the best photographic tools I’ve ever used. Like most zoom lenses though, the 200-400 is prone to flare in situations like this and it has taken quite a bit of work in Photoshop to reduce it to what I consider to be acceptable levels. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing if CS5 really has the capacity to remove lens flare as quickly and easily as the promo suggests.

Hi Phil, I like it as is, as the path leads you, so placement for me is spot on. Obviously something caught his attention, hence the look & stance? Early morning I guess, the colour & light really sets the scene.

Top shot Phil - lovely light, great animal, nice expression, etc. I agree with comments about the crop (more to the right) but it doesn't detract from the image too much.
Cheers,
Chris

As it's FF, I might have placed the fox more to the right to give it space to gaze into.
Was this taken from a hide ?
