Went to Cemlyn Bay to look for Tern yesterday but too early - at least I hope I was, "improvements" have been made to the site - it remains to be seen whether it works or not. There were a few Plover and Dunlin which I managed to get near by crawling along the beach!!!
50d + f400mm f 5.6
Exposure Time = 1/1000"
F Number = F8
Exposure Program = Aperture priority
ISO Speed Ratings = 200
Exposure Bias Value = -0.67EV
Metering Mode = Spot
Well caught indeed. The bird stands out well and the catchlight in the eye lifts it.

Agree with Robert and you've caught it in mid stride which is good.
It looks like you've done a bit of cloning.I can see a foot near the base, down from the beak/bill
Hi Kim, these are cute birds and spent some time photographing them a little while back. can be shy, but also inquisitive, so hope you had fun.
Firstly, can I ask, have you have also blurred the BG from top to about half way down, not to sure about how it looks, plus would agree with Phil about a foot in the foreground? There is some nice detail in the bird and assume being slightly overcast has helped the whites.
Very nice exposure with lots of detail in the feathers, I agree that the background looks odd, maybe grainy? is this cropped? plus the extra foot??

Hi guys and thanks for the comments, there was no blurring of the background, there are sand dunes and sea sky in the distance, and I was lying flat to take this. The Plover was only about 3 metres away. I have however made a pigs ear of cloning some sea weed from the front and added an extra foot which I noticed as soon as I had posted it!!!!
Nice image of the Plover Kim, I would have left well alone... you have cloned in OOF bit eher it should be sharp and vice versa... but I like the plover and would love to see the original.
