Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto, California. One of the more interesting encounters I've had in a while, while jogging through this preserve I stumbled across a coyote, watching it for some time before it finally strode towards a nearby meadow. A few moments later it started growling, then joined by another coyote the growl intensified into howling - all towards some brush off to the left. Together, they howled for at least twenty minutes towards, seemingly ignoring my presence entirely. I still don't know what was in the brush - if anything. My first thought being a few pups but given their behavior I feel it was something else entirely. A few moments later I went to inspect the brush, stopping short as I thought if a few coyotes are scared of something in the brush, perhaps I should be too.
