Smorgasbord Park
I decided to start calling City Park in Denver Smorgasbord Park. I was there this morning to shoot the nesting Black-cronwed Night Herons and Snowy Egrets along with Dan and had a smorgasbord of wildlife to shoot...yes at "City PArk' of all places! We saw and phtopraphed the following animals:

Canada Geese
Snow Goose
Pelican
Hawk (not good at ideentifying breed, think a Copper's)
Black-crowned Night Heron
Snowy Egret
Great Blue Heron
Cormerant
Squirrels
and of course several other song birds and a few ducks we didn't even attempt to photograph. Dan tried to photograph a few vagrants, but I stopped him and reminded him they didn't count as wildlife

and the Hawk (I think is a Cooper's, but could be totally wonrg. I am bad at hawk identification. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, the hawk tried to scoop up a Snowy....too bad he missed, now that would have been the capture of the day!

Holy cow, what kind of lens are you using? Beautiful images.

Damn that's a lot of variety. Nice images all around. As far as the vagrants you guys should have trie to hook a radio collar to one of them and studied their migratory movements.

Beautiful work once again! It was nice to read about all of the varieties of wildlife you get to see there. I envy your opportunities...a smorgasbord, indeed!

I can't really pick out a favorite as they're all exceptional, but the snowy egret certainly holds a slight edge. 'Losing' that bit of white in the background would be a good thing, IMO.

Bravo, Kurt! Thanks so much for sharing these with us (esp. the 'wildlife deprived' viewers like me).

Awesome hawk shot, by the way, it's a Red-tailed Hawk,(immature, the tail isn't reddish yet) in a classic flight pose, wow! The Night Heron could stand a little more brightness, but is also a very nice shot
