Hey all,

I was out at Pawnee Buttes with my Meetup group on Saturday night for the sunset. Almost got skunked by a large storm cloud that decided to move 15 minutes before showtime. We were fortunate enough to get some nice colors.

Flowers in the grassland look to be 2 - 3 weeks away. Some buds, some white phlox blooming along with some wild pea (I think). Lots of Raptors in the fields along CR-103 and near Keota.

Sorry my membership has expired so I'll need to link to the images:

I'll say you got some sunset light! This one here is incredible. I'm looking at it on my laptop and the foreground looks kind of blue (hey, isn't that a Miles Davis record?), but the rest looks perfect.

Looks like a great shot. Nice light on the Buttes. I like this angle and the composition.

Impressive lighting! I'm glad you stuck around for the show.

That shot just rocks! I agree there's a bit more cyan in the foreground on my monitor but man! Great light!

Wow, this is a wonderful Buttes shot. Maybe lighten up the foreground a bit and I agree with Jeff about the cyan cast, but that would be easy to fix.

That is some great light. Nice shot!

Beautiful light!!
The yucca plants make such a great anchor, too. I think that removing some of the cyan/blue cast from the foreground would be an asset.

I had the exact same conditions as you on where I was on Saturday, so I know how you feel.
Congratulations on getting such a great shot!

Well done Aleks. You were fortunate to capture such sweet light. No much to add to what has already been said. Thanks for the update on the flowers as well.

The lead-in shot is killer! I agree about the FG blue, but that's an easy adjustment. Thanks for showing us a new viewpoint of the Buttes.

I really like the first post here as well as the creative telephoto closeup you linked to. Thanks for sharing these.

Awesome! I live about 30 minutes from this place and you've convinced me that I need to get out there more often!

Alek awesome shot. I like the angle you shot it from. I was out there and all ready for the light show---storm rolled in and didn't give it up. Glad it worked for you. Very nice color on the Buttes. Nice Comp!

Thanks everyone, it was a fun outing - I've tweaked the colors to be more natural.

I won't post here but if you're interested I wrote a blog post (I know, I know) and have some other photographers' shots there too - http://www.tenuousthread.com/blog/

Great shots. I need to make it back up there one of these days.

Charles - yeah, there is a lot of opportunities there if the light is right.

Good luck
