Poppy, Antelope Valley, CA
This is a macro/closeup shot of a Poppy
in the Antelope Valley. I found a dry
ravine with Poppies growing at the edge
of a creek bed. That enabled me to crouch
to a lower position and shoot across and
underneath the flower. I captured this
image during midday light.

I chose to handhold, using a 50mm lens attached
to extension tubes. Your thoughts and responses
are most appreciated.

Gorgeous shot Robert! I love the colors, lines and overall soft feel of this image. So did you go this past weekend? I think I may know the ravine you are talking about.

I just picked up my first macro lens (Sigma 70mm). So I am anxious to get some more practice using for shots such as these.

Thank you for the compliment, Derek. I got the image about two weeks ago.
As the temperatures rise, I'm looking forward to wildflower photography at
higher elevations along State Route 395.

The interior of the flower showing through the petal in silhouette really makes this image stand out Robert. Nice work.

Great colors and soft detail, Robert. I love the sweeping lines of the flower edge. Beautifully composed and executed.
