I love you too
Male Adder (got it right this time).
D300 150mm macro 1/1250s f6.3 ISO 400 handheld

Very uncomfortable having fallen in a brook - soaking wet and covered in peat but at least this chap made up for all the discomfort.

And don't anyone dare say I should feel at home in a peat bog

petes bog? You do pick some funny places to do your wildlife or is that you a courting again? LOL
What is it with you and water ....?
The image ? very nice , but I'd be inclined to slice a tadge off right so the horizontal bright twig doesn't just stop and I'd lose the blade of grass .
other than that very well done again ,,,,more than I've got ,,,,but you know me and Herpes ... :toast:

Lovely close up, Maggie. I agree with Mark about the cropping suggestion though.

Nits covered and looks like you and Ian made the most of the same little chap. Note the distinctive 'tear drop' shape on the back of the head which is like a fingerprint to each animal as are the scale patterns in that general area..

A nice encounter, captured well.

Hi Maggie, I quite like it being off centre, but I just find it rather cluttered, as the main subject doesn't stand out, especially having the dark area to the right of the head as you see it. Difficult with the DOF I guess. Any head on at all?

Well done on getting the tongue flick, that seems harder to get with adders than with grass snakes, at least in my experience. I might go for a slightly tighter crop, but otherwise a fine capture.

Hello Maggie.

Very nice closeup and shows the marking on the back of the head very nicely.

A touch off the right (as Mark said) would improve things but its a nice habitat shot and it looks like its going places. Love the tongue flick too
