Bret's onion flower ID got me to thinking when the yellow flowered mule ears at White Pocket would be in bloom this year. Seems we have received more moisture, but temperatures have been lower this year compared to last. I was there last June 13 and seemed to catch the tail of the bloom. If any have a recent or upcoming visit and update for the area, I would appreciate hearing. Thanks.
Thanks for the comments. # 2 seems a little soft in the post. Wonder if it is the 720 pixel compression, my 17" Dell monitor, or the PP.
This trip to WP was my first as a destination photo trip. #1 of the flowers was taken midday, and I had trouble with the wind gusts and DOF. I was waiting for the sunset against some other formations, and probably missed a great scene during sunset after I took #2. I did not get the sunset image I was hoping for to the west, but when I turned around to pack up, the area in #2 was really bathed in pink. That showed I need to be more aware in other directions and less focused on one intent. I will post in ESS the bathed-in-pink shot, which is one of my more favorite captures.
I just got back from White Pocket and while I wasn't looking for mule ears they are still a few weeks off (2-3?). While I was in South Buttes I saw a lot of mule ears but they were early. It looks like things are starting warm up so hopefully they will progress nicely. Hope for some rain too, the pockets are dry!

Andy, Thank you for the report. I may plan on the weekend of the 22nd and hope for clouds and blooms.
