RMNP: Last Snow, First Thaw
On Monday of last week I went up to the park as the last major storm began to break up there. Well, it probably won't the LAST of the snow for the season, but maybe the largest one we'll see in a little while. I didn't think there would be much in the way of exposed ice or water showing up higher at Dream Lake because of the fresh snow so I shot sunrise at Bear Lake. It turned out to be a good decision since I was able to find this small patch of thawing blue ice surrounded by an expanse of white.

A little bit later I did end up snowshoeing up to Dream Lake and used the gnarly trees up there in this slightly-desaturated composition.

The only exposed ice at Dream Lake was this tiny bit at the lake's outlet. Image also desaturated slightly.

The classic view of Longs Peak with new snow from the Dream Lake Trail on the way back down.

Finally, a bit more ice was visible at Sprague Lake.

Nice set that you have here .. Beautiful color in the first one.
Liked #3 as well.

The desaturated look really shows the ruggedness of the mountains. I like the effect. I really like it in #2. Nice job Joshua.

Great views ... the first one is a really nice, fresh take on Bear Lake.

A well timed hike. I love that view of Longs Peak after a fresh snow.

Great series!
I especially like #1 and #4 (classic of Long's Peak).
#4 is just picture postcard beautiful!

Great series, Josh! Good choice shooting Bear, but i really like your Dream shots too. If you want some more snow, a major storm appears to be headed our way, there is a lot of uncertainty--the bulk of it may hit early or it may be delayed, but next week could be interesting in RMNP

I really like #1 and #4 Josh, both classic scenes, but very nicely executed. You had some great conditions up there!.
