Taken back in Feb when I went to Texel, Holland, with Rene De Heer. Same bird as Rene posted ages ago as we got pretty much the same shots. Here however I went for a slow shutter speed to try and get the rain to streak nicely. Haven't used the camera since I got back from this trip!

Looks better in higher res which you can see, along with a write up of how two grown men turned in to excited little boys here, in my blog article
you've captured some nice detail in the bird on what looks a thoroughly miserable day. Not sure about the perch, but nice head turn and the rain streaks make this shot
Hi Richard, think this looks a better version to the one I have seen posted elsewhere, more depth. As david quite rightly said, certain conveys the weather. He doesn't seem happy.
Super shot Stephen. I've tried to take some pictures like this in heavy rain so I know how hard it is to try and get the correct shutter speed to get the sense of movement. Spot on IMO and certainly a great species to photograph.
Missed this early Richard,my head is still on India Time The strong composition makes this image for me the effect of the rain you have created is brilliant and add's so much to the image I hope you are well and when I come back from Texel we'll have to meet up as said before
Hi Richard,
Opportunities like this don't come around too often so congrats on making the most of the moment and getting a fine image. The falling rain is a real bonus too.
Great stuff.

I'd be a jibbering wreck if I spent a week with Rene....so well done on that score too
