Blue eared Kingfisher
Hi all
I've not been posting recently due to work and various trips but here is a Kingfisher from my latest trip to the Sabah territory in Borneo. This was taken along the Kinabatangan River in Sandankan.
From the boat this species allowed quite a close approach. A lot smaller than our native Kingfisher but just as bright and truly stunning close up.

Comments and crits welcome.

Best wishes

Ian

What a lovely bird and capture. As said above, nice use of flash and the colours are fabulous.
I have just come back from Kota Kinabalu and didn't see any of these.

I think our kingfishers are bright until I see some of these tropical guys. Great composition, and I love the colours.

Have only photographed these in the dark (you can practically touch them when they're asleep) so am dead jealous of your shot. Very nice indeed. Did you manage to get the crocs by the side of the river too?
