Common Yellowthroats at Ridgefield
One of my personal favorites the Common Yellowthroats, have returned to the Ridgefield NWR. They can be found in large numbers and many paired off, I even got a couple of shots with a pair in the same frame. Besides the color and markings on these masked marvels I really like the perch shown with it's lichens and moss and the complimentary OOF BG. Shot yesterday in a shaded area under rainy overcast conditions.

Thanks for viewing,

As we've discussed, I know how challenging those little caffeinated and shy birds can be, so congrats on another outstanding yellowthroat. "Bird on a stick" is only boring when the stick is boring, and this one is wonderful. Add in the singing pose, and you have a real winner.

Nice capture Craig. Gorgeous little bird. I've seen these before from a distance but didn't notice the wing and tail feathers have such an olive sheen.

Craig! Yet another wonderful shot from Ridgefield! Hey, are you currently living in the NWR? Read that as my being very jealous of your proximity to the NWR. I look forward to each new post.

This is a cropped closeup of the original. If your not familiar with yellowthroats, this gives a better idea of our creator's handiwork and the finished bird after going thru the paintshop!
