Hi everyone, here's an image of a Great Spotted Woodpecker braving the pouring rain. All comments most welcome as per usual!

Top Woody shot you can see the colour of her eye.

Lovely detail and love the rain.I'm sure you'd liked to have seen her come around the trunk a bit more so we could see all of her tail but failing that just a bit more room at the bottom for her 'virtual' tail would have been nice.
Good one Paul.

Spot on Paul

great exposure and detail :toast:

Shame about the bit of tail missing but thats life.

Would agree with Phil about seeing more of the tail, so you have all of the bird in view, but not always possible. Think the conditions have helped retail a lot more of the detail and I like the hint of rain in the BG, good atmosphere.

Hi Paul
Good one
Nits covered. It is always hard with a bird on a trunk like this because to get the bird a bit more left would include too much dominant trunk.
Cheers

Hi Paul, would like to see a bit more of the tail myself too. Other than that very nice!

Just started to get one brave enough to visit my feeders, i guess I need to go and get an appropriate log for it to land on as at the moment it goes straight to the feeder..

Anyway, so much detail in this shot and something for me to aspire to.

Great close up and for me works well as presented,if you had zoomed back the tail would still been hidden due to the natural curve in the tree, the only thing I would do is remove the food on the beak, great effort   :wavey:

Nits covered, but great detail in the bird, just a little large in the frame for my own personal taste....
