OK, I'm dumb...how to search on this site

Over the past few months I've seen several posts regarding recommendations for a new PC for photo editing. Now I'm in a position to build a new one myself and I tried searching for those old posts to see what members recommended. I've searched every forum using "computer" "pc" "photoshop computer" "photoshop pc" "new computer" and can't find any of the posts.

Is there some technique that's escaping me or can somebody help me know how to find those posts?

I know I'll probably feel like a fool when I see the answer, but what the heck. It's OK if I get the help!!

John, I'm not sure about the searching, but since I will be buying a new computer soon also I have been reading all of the posts regarding this subject. I flagged one that I thought was particularly informative so I can tell you how to find at least that one. Go to the RMNP Forum, search for U2410 which will bring up 2 threads, and click on the Computers and Monitors thread. Good Luck!

The search function leaves a lot to be desired, that's for sure...

Best bet is to search the Digital Imaging forum. Searching "computer" there produced over 10 pages of hits.

I did search on "computer" and I did it in the digital imaging forum and I did note all the hits and absolutely none of them on the first two pages were ones I recall seeing from the past few months. In fact, most had nothing to do with computers so it escapes my how the search picked them up. I assume they were listed by most recent so I clicked on a couple at random and they were actually from 2006!!! Not real current so I tried sorting on reply instead of post and got zero posts. Sooooo, I gave up and wrote my plea. I'm not being critical here, just explaining what I did in case that helps. I love the site and it's been of great value to me. I think it's one of the best on the web!

At any rate, a couple good tips so I'll follow them up.

Actually I think search results are sorted by LEAST recent. And most forum search engines throw out words that are 3 letters long or less. AND it will return a result on all text in the thread, so searching for "new computer" (if it worked) will still return, say, a bird thread if someone said "processed on my new computer".

The best thing might be to search for computer component or software names (like intel, or video card, or processor or Windows 7) and browse through the most recent threads.
