A welcome suprise
Another evening in my bluethroat hide. Nice evening light and two male bluethroat. Without any warning this male kingfisher showed up 9 feet in front of me. Where would I be without a zoom lens.

iso 200 1/200 sec. f/5.6 Nikon D3 and Nikon 200-400/4 plus 1.4TC

Hi Edwin,

Good execution as expected, but I find the BG just a little clinical. OK, out numbered I know, but having an almost solid colour just doesn't feel right, whereas a more mottled BG, with shade variations I feel would be more pleasing to the eye and to the overall image, but hey... :wink:

A welcome surprise indeed. The bird is great and I really like the background - just enough of a suggestion of the green reeds at the bottom to fix the bird :toast:
