The Standard Rowena Flower Photo Location
So, this is from pretty much the exact spot that everyone shoots the sunrise from Rowena, but it has some nice colors so I thought I would share. I took this during the great sunrise we had at Rowena Point when Zack, Adrian, David, Chip, Kevin and I got together for the Photo Cascadia Summit in April. It was windy, so I opened up to f/8 and set the ISO to 800 to get enough shutter speed. I bracketed for exposure and for depth of field and blended all the images together to get light balance and front to back sharpness. At ISO 800 there was some shadow noise but Nik Define removed a lot of it.

I love the exposures taken, very nice especially with the available light.

Sean, Really Beautiful sunrise! Excellent job with exposures and blending. Is this along the McCall Point trail?
Now I really wish I'd found the energy to hike up there during my visit last year.

Laurie - Yes it is. This particular location is only a couple hundred yards from the parking area. There are some nice fields further up the ridge also, but they are often better at sunset.

Beautiful photo Sean. I really like how the foreground balsamroot flowers appear to be reaching towards the sunrise. Thanks for describing how you made this one.
