You all know that Peggy went to India in January. She took some great photos but she accidentally jacked up the ISO on the D100 to 1600. You know what that means. Noise, noise, noise!
Well, I just discovered a way to minimize the noise and make the photos look pretty darn good.

If you've worked the file, make a composite later.
Go to the Filter menu, go to Blur and go to Surface Blur.
Play around with that till you get down to an acceptable level of noislessness and detail.
Apply the filter.
Now, this is the cool part, change the level Opacity to something less than 100%. You want some detail to come through.
Flatten as usual and sharpen.
Changing the blend mode to Luminosity might works slick also but I haven't checked it out yet.

Hmmm. bummer, the book I was reading mentioned that it was processor intensive but it didn't take anywhere near as long on my computer (a three year old Mac G4).

Mark,
I tried something similar before I got Noise Ninja. I really haven't had to use it since I've ben shooting with my D2x
