Gobble Gobble
Acting on a lead from our prairie expert here, I headed north last weekend to check out the prairie situation. I was pleasantly surprised to find these turkeys foraging along the treeline, but, without any camo, I was pretty limited on how close I could get without spooking them. I hope to get back there early in the morning this weekend for a closer shot.

Nikon, 400mm f/3.5, about 50% crop

I hope you get back out there this weekend. The flowers will give you plenty of options. Looks like a great place to wait out "Tom".

Great catch, Bill, the reds and greens among the gobblers are very pleasing.

Nice capture Bill. How close were you? I sometimes see turkey out in a field, but they're always so far away I don't even think about stopping!

Excellent image. What are the red flowers?

Thanks, guys. John, I was probably 100 yards or so away. There were some trees that I used for cover to get this close. The jake was watching me here, and had been for several minutes. So I decided this was as close as I was going to get. Charles, the flowers are Indian paintbrush.

Pretty shot. Haven't seen turkeys walking around in lush wildflowers before. Hope you are able to get some closer shots.

Very nice Bill. It appears they are all keeping an eye on you. The Indian paintbrush make it a special shot. Thanks for sharing.
