Yesterday. got a mail from Kennedy publishing about the book The Best of Worldwide Photography Volume I, for which, they guarantee two full pages of my picture n charging UD$45. The point is, it is no use if I have to pay money for getting published, I'm not a beginner anyway.
I'm sure many of you must have received this mail. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yep, I got the same thing. I guess you can look at it as advertising, but I ignored it. I don't recall if it mentioned anything about circulation numbers or anything.

Yup.

I just checked and it's in my spam folder.

Left it there.

Must be a thick book if everyone is getting 2 full pages of their work

I got the same thing. I don't think it's much more than a money making operation for the promoters, though I didn't research it out. It's been deleted.

I received it as well and trashed it. I am sure it is like one of those Who's Who type book deals where it costs you to get in and then they charge you to get a copy at some tremendous price.

These were real common a few years ago. Just a way to get a book published with minimal expenses. You might want to check and see if they want all rights to your images as well......

For that price, you can self publish a book with your own photos on every page at places like Blurb.com.

Offer them $45 off of your usual double page spread fee of $XXX.

Yeah, it is spam. If it was legit, you wouldn't be offered the opportunity to spend your money with them to get published. They should be paying you.

I think it's just a ploy to collect money from photographers.

I also got the e-mail about being "juried" into this book. They even referenced a specific image from my website. I was suspicious from the beginning. Actually just got the second e-mail reminding me of the deadline of May 14th... Think I'll pass.

Hmmmm. I could suggest a jury for them. In Judge Roy Bean's court! :jump:

Me too. Simply another way for people to attempt to make money off of us.
