Red Admiral
1d2n ef 70-200 f4 taken this afternoon while failing to get decent shots of blackcap.

It's not working for me Craig due to the limited depth of field, the out of focus wing tip catches the eye.
A more parallel viewpoint and/or a little more depth of field is needed for this particular angle.

Very nice indeed, I don't mind the shallow Dof, but a very minor nit is that I might be inclined to soften the 'harder' lines in the OoF background!

Hi Craig

Not easy getting both wings sharp, but nicely exposed and still quite an attractive image!

Nice setting but not quite there Craig. You either needed to be further round to the right,to line up with the butterfly,or use a higher f number for more dof.

I will go back and try again. Agreed with out of focus wing tip.

Nits covered, still a nice shot though and I'm glad to see insect season is in full swing!

Hi Craig,

nits already covered but still a good effort :toast:

It's a very pleasing image Craig , but the Oof wing detracts too much for me. Getting pin sharp shots of them with their wings closed is one thing but getting the same with them open is ten times harder, so this is an excellent effort and certainly one I would keep if it were mine.
