Up a (Medano) Creek
Sorry, but i gotta post more dunes shots. This is from yesterday afternoon, i needed more shots of Medano Creek without all the dust in the sky. Here's on from late afternoon.

2) This was a bit of an experiment. I shot through a cheap fish tank to get a creek's eye view of the creek. It didnt work too well, for a variety of reasons--but it was fun anyways

So let me get this straight: #2 is an example of something NOT working out? If so, I need a lot more of MY shots to not work out! These are all fantastic, Stan, but #2 is the one that elicited an out-loud "WHOA!" from me. Absolutely brilliant! :toast:

Great images Stan. I even like the fishtank "failure." I will be down that way the last week of May. Can't wait.

Thanks Todd, the jpeg looks fine, but look a little harder and you can see some of the reflections and water drops that had to be cloned out (and some that couldnt be). I think the idea has potential, but needs a lot of refinement. It was a lot harder than i expected because 1) i figured the cp would eliminate the reflections--it didnt 2) focus was brutal and blending not possible 3) the water pushed very hard against the tank--i should have wieghed it down instead of holding it down with one hand and triggering the remote with the other.

Hey, that fish tank experiment is great! I completely agree with Todd. That's thinking outside, no wait, inside the box! But in a different way.
O.K., so it's #2 then 3, 4, 5, and 6 in that order. Excellent work!

Great stuff as usual. Looks like you had the place to yourself.

Great work, as usual, Stan! I love the fish tank experiment. Very creative.

Hi Stan, it appears the creek is up and running well. I have 3 nights reserved at Pinyon Flats (23-25th) in a few weeks. Considering your "dunes wisdom" here's my question, do you think the creek flow may peak around my visit dates? That was my plan when i reserved the Campgound site 2 months ago.

"Sorry, but i gotta post more dunes shots.
Apology accepted.
You sure had some beautiful skies and cooperative weather to work with on this visit.
#'s 1, 4 & 8 are my favorites. I like the composition and flat water flowing into the lower right corner of #8. Nicer light on the dunes and less sky. That's one for the book.
#1 could almost be the cover of that book. Such a unique view with awesome light beams. I'm sure the halo here isn't present in the original.

Another outstanding 'walk in the park', Stan! :toast:

1, 4, and 5 - awesome. The dunes look surreal! I initially thought #2 was a wave and was very confused. What a cool experiment.

Hard to pick a favorite; all nice images!

Love the reflections and the abstract shot. Great Job Stan!

Thanks, folks!

Kane; the creek almost always peaks third week in May, so thats a good bet. May get some more snow in a few days and that'll help things keep flowing!

John; i corrected the halo, that was a rush processing job, it looks better now.

Bert: Thats the amazing thing about the Dunes, here's this beautiful sunset, in a national park in May, and im the only car in the whole parking lot. go figure.

I really like the light in #1 and would like to see it in B&W. These shots are definitely making me want to get out that way.
