Trail Ridge Road last fall
At the beginning of fall last year I created this HDR from one image using the Canon raw editor (to create 3 images) and processed with Photomatix. I was just driving back down Trail Ridge and saw the light breaking through the clouds. So, this is handheld from the driver's seat, with my two year old son screaming in the backseat at volume 11, and steering with my knee at 45MPH. Just kidding, it was more like 35MPH.

Please let me know what you think!

Not bad, some nice dappled light and a pretty scene. To be honest, i dont see why you would need HDR for this scene. One well exposed shot should have kept the histogram intact, and then you could process the one shot with curves and a little fill-light if need be. I think youd get better results.

Yeah, I'm going to play with the raw file a bit in Adobe RAW. The initial reason was for improper exposure and the fact that I was not very comfortable with PS Elements. Photomatix was an easy solution.

Like the patterns from the shadows. Very nice.

I like the nice autumn colors in that one spot on the hillside. I also like the layering in this one. It looks soft, probably because it was handheld.

I like the depth to the scene, which is pretty impressive for a handheld shot, and the shadowplay from the clouds is nice. When I first viewed the image, I was thinking the same thing as Stan, that HDR probably wasn't nesessary, I'd be interested in seeing it re-processed from a single file.

I love the dappled lighting. I bet the hdr added to the cloud contrast if nothing else. Maybe sharpen it a bit. Pretty scene and very good for a drive-by!
