Just FYI there are at least 4 White Faced Ibis hanging around Cherry Creek State Park - saw them Saturday around 1:00pm.
They were in the small pond just across the street from the model airplane field. You can park in the small pull-out and, carefully, hike down to the pond. They are a little flighty.
There was a Snowy Egret, Belted Kingfisher and two Avocets in the pond as well (and various Great Blue Herons and Yellow-rumped Warblers nearby).
Good tip. Ibis fly through here every year around this time. I usually see them a week or two before Memorial Day. There's usually a good population at Sawhill Ponds, but as you say, they're flighty. If you get there early in the AM and set up a blind around pond #12, you might have some luck (assuming the pond has some water in it; pond #12 is a good place to see many of the more reclusive residents of the park IMHO).
