Have not been very active recently due to the birth of our second son Robijn and some health issues so sorry for my absence..
Just returned form a great couple of days at the isle of Texel and our mainland together with Craig Jones and some more UK and Dutch guys. The weather could have been better but we have had a superb time with loads of opportunities.
Here's one from today of a couple of displaying Black-necked Grebes..
Will put some more up on the blog soon..

A very nice subject and a bonus to have two in the frame. Good eye contact on both birds as well. A slightly higher view point, if possible, might have moved the light band at the top of the frame above the heads of the birds, which I think would have improved this a little.
A subject not found on my hard drive, so easier said than done. Maybe a trip to Texel is needed in the future.
A great POV but it has done you no favours for the background the division cutting through the birds necks does not sit well for me... great looking birds,
the background reflection may not be ideal but the subject more than makes up for it to me. You did very well to get both birds in the plane of focus. Congrats also on your new arrival
Thanks for your comments and congratulations on the birth of our son. Agree about the POV wich might have been slightly better if i was a bit higher but i was laying down and this only takes seconds when it happens and excitement makes you forget the rest....
I do not feel the whites on the chest are blown (on my monitor anyway) but perhaps i am wrong.
Cracking shot Jeroen it happened so fast we were lucky to get anything at all Just got back, great time, company etc 'Dotty' man has just sent me a few images Say hello to all, great few days all the best and 'Did I show you my........?'
great to see two in the frame and complimentary poses too - nice - nits covered but as you say - sometimes excitement gets the better of us - better to be excited and get the shot with minor nits, than not be excited at all and get the shot if you ask me

an excellent shot
couple of minor nits the white look a bit blown on the chests and the waters running down hill to the left
Firstly, many congratulations on the birth of Robijn. Secondly, a great shot with minor nits already covered.
