Hopi Reservation Hoodoos
Hey all!

This weekend I was fortunate enough to visit some sandstone formations on the Hopi Reservation in northern Arizona. I've already posted one shot on ESS, but after processing a couple more, I've realized the one I already posted was the weakest of the lot. If you care to look, I've attached a couple of my stronger shots from the weekend.

Thanks for any input!

I love the light just pouring into the back of photo #1.

The one on ESS was great, but these two are both outstanding! Great restraint in processing and the pastels just sing with this wonderful warm light. I'm assuming this was sunrise?

#1 is truly spectacular! #2 is only really freakin' good!

Great shots - let's see more!

Thanks for the comments!

Jared- This was actually sunset. It's quite rare that I get up for sunrise

Wow, these are both outstanding! The unseen light source in #1, and the amazing, ethereal glow that it creates, is to die for. Both are exceptional, however.

Wow - fantastic work. I especially love #1: the detail, layering and reflected light in the mid-ground are excellent. The small hoodoo top right pulls your eye right through the image.

The first one is outstanding! Great layering helped by the off-camera backlight.

That first one is blowing my socks off Joel. The light is nothing short of spectacular. Great job.

Love the pastel colors in these. The light in the first one is awesome!

Fabulous work here, Joel! #1 is my favorite for the lighting, but both are well composed and processed and have an amazing 3D look.

Extraordinary light and color in these! Your comps are excellent as well. Fascinating place.

These are both excellent. Well done!

Joel,
Very, very nice lighting coming from the top in #1 to create that glow. I might try cropping off the bottom 1/10 as I find that brighter stoneless area competes with the fantastic lighting up top.
I am liking #2 the best. Well done!

You really did this place justice, Joel.
#1 is superb, and it's a tossup whether I prefer #2 or the image you posted on ES&S.

Again, this is about the best work I've seen from this place....congratulations!

Both are great, but #1 is truly awesome!

#1 is my favorite, I love that glow up in the corner and all the detail in the foreground. All of them are very nice, excellent work on the color and processing

Kind of like everyone else here.... they are both excellent, but numero uno is a 'holy sh*t!" image.
