Last year I spent many hours throughout the summer trying to spot a dragonfly or damselfly nymph as it climbed out of the water but before the dragon/damsel started to emerge, but failed miserably. This year in my first outing looking for damsels I spotted one within 10 minutes! I was lucky enough to find this nymph while it was still getting into position. Within 3-4 minutes of spotting it the damselfly started to slowly emerge, a quite remarkable sight.

Brilliant close up work!! Got this camera and lens myself, and am looking forward to getting out with them. I'd be more than happy if this were mine!

Fantastic capture Matt. I have never managed to see one at this stage. One night last week though while out doing a newt survey I saw a nymph in a pond. First time I have ever seen one. It was intriguing.

They really are not that easy to spot at times and with my failing eyesight it gets even harder.. Well done
Soon be that time again.

Always amazes me how they ever fitted in there in the first place.

Top shot Matt, the crumpled wings look great and you can count the hairs
