My daughter and her family recently relocated to Elizabethton, TN near Roan Mt. I'll be visiting them for a few days in early June. Anyone in that area have suggestions for easy-to-reach landscape shooting locations, or good guide books? I'm interested in grand vistas, cool ridgelines and flowing water . . . aren't we all. I can sneak out at dawn for a couple hours, but with 6 grandkids I'm playing grandpa most of the time :>. Thanks! Scott

Scott, you might want to post this in the Southeastern section of NPN. There are a lot of guys who live near that area and visit regularly. I have been there several times and I think early June is a bit early for the rhododendrons on Roan but there are some wonderful vistas from the top of Round Bald, Jane's Bald, Roan Mountain, and Hump Mountain depending on how far you want to hike. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular from any of the above locations. There is a road that takes you to Carver's Gap where parking is available near the main road and in addition there is a road up to the Roan Mountain overlook that has parking and restrooms. It is a great place.

Thanks Bill, for the southeastern section advice and more. I'll do that.
