Tight Pheasant
Went out on Sunday to clear my head a bit. Took some shots of the dogs then turned my attention to the pheasants.
It's getting harder to find prime condition birds just now, breeding season started very early here and as a result most are now looking a bit shabby.

This fellow is still in good order, although he is losing his voice a bit when calling.

Tight portrait with things clipped everywhere, think it works though!

1D Mk4
400mm
f/6.3
1/500th
ISO1250
Usual PS, levels, resize, sharpen, etc no cropping

Works for me too!

And me, the pink / purple iridescent feathers on the breast look very good, comp is nailed imo as is the sharpness of the head.

Definitely works John. Superb detail in the head and body and nice OOF detail on wings and tail. :toast: :toast:

Beautiful John - just the right amount of blur and your tight composition works for me.

You have pressed the knob at the right moment John,
the mix of sharpness and motion blur is impressive

Nice dynamic image John. I'd be tempted to crop even tighter at the bottom. Good stuff.
Cheers,
Chris

PS. Could do with a fox sneaking up from behind.
