My husband and I are visiting Branson MO the first week of June. He will be attending a wood carving workshop and I will have lots of free time.
Since this is our first visit and I am unfamiliar with the area I am seeking advice on photography opportunities; my specific interest is macro photography so I am in especially interested in gardens and parks open to the public. On the map I noticed Table Rock Lake, and just over the Arkansas state line Bull Shoals Lake, any photo ops at either one; are they within reasonable drive of Branson?
Hey Doris, you are just 60-90 minutes away from the Buffalo National River area, with lots of great short hikes and scenic areas, and endless photo ops - especially in the greater Boxley/Ponca metroplex, southwest of Harrison. The big lakes might be good for sunrise/sunset scenes, but you are going to find a lot more "nature" in the Buffalo area. You might want to pickup a copy of the new Missouri's Natural Wonders Guidebook by Don Kurz - has lots of blooming prairies and other scenic areas described in there.
Doris, you might do a Google search for Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area, which is just outside Branson. I've been meaning to visit the area myself.
Doris,
John is right about checking out the Ruth and Paul Henning Consevation area. Link to Area
It has 1/2 mile of Roark Creek running through the area and provides lots of different types of glades and forests.
The Buffalo River area Tim mentioned would also be well worth the trip.
Happy shooting!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
