Through a glass darkly..
..Well, double glazing actually. Thought I'd give this bathing bird photography a go. No pond just a rather large frost proof glazed saucer. Not a patch on JR's ponds, but any port in a storm, so they say.

Hi David
Bout time somebody else had a go !
Easy- spade + bin liner
Nice to get a Song Thrush well !
Just seems to be a bit harsh (contrasty ) on my stuff.
Easily rectumfied (oooh my english ! )
Cheers

Hi David

Super 'bath time' image - wish I had song thrush visiting my bird bath. Agree with John it is a little contrasty.

1/400th at 500mm on a cropped sensor would have resulted in blur for me so well done in a steady hand.A touch lower f would have dropped the BG out a little more .

I was trying photograph one of these yesterday, but failed miserably, not a bad shot considering it's through double glazing.

I've been trying these in my garden for a week but the blackbirds won't allow them anywhere near me.Nits covered and now you're following in JR's footsteps, only another 273 species to go!

Very difficult to get a shot of one of these at all in my experience, so well done. I agree a bit contrasty.

Always a pleasure to get one of these in front of the lens. Agree about the contrast issue mentioned above.
